More About Crandon
Crandon is a little town in North Eastern Wisconsin about 100 miles north of Green Bay. It has a population of about 2000 and is the county seat of and the only incorporated town in Forest County. Forest County and the town of Crandon were started in 1887 and named after Frank P. Crandon, the tax commissioner of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Since then logging, tourism and light industry have been the staple of the economy.
Crandon is well known for its outdoor recreation opportunities including fishing, hunting and snowmobiling with many lakes and hundreds of miles of trails making it a great place for your next family vacation. Crandon is also home of The Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. |

Cant believe its been a yesr since I posted to the site.
Crandon area has about 12 inches of snow on the ground today(12/10/09).
Check the lower left Snowcover box for current snow depth.

Crandon area has about 7 inches of snow on the ground today(12/23/08). Looks like this year will have an abundance of snow as well as cold temperature to freeze the lakes, currently 7 - 10 inches thick.

Marian (Kuss) Carpenter Has Passed Away

Luther writes "At the age of 88 Marian Carpenter passed away in a nursing home in LaCrosse on March 22, 2006. Marian was born in Crandon and spent most of her life there. Her husband owned the IGA on Crandon's main drag. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy, and her son, Richard, and their children and grandchildren.
Her funeral was at St. Paul Lutheran on March 27. She is now with the Lord and her husband Ray, who died in 2001."

Crandon makes offer to buy fairgrounds

Thomas Arnott

Thomas Arnott, 68, formerly of Crandon, Laona and Antigo passed away on December 16 near Mobile AL. Tom was struck by a vehicle while working as a Land Surveyor on US 98 near Elberta AL. Tom was a father, and Grandfather a friend to many and my dad. He was an area resident for almost 40 years, the area Land Surveyor and avid canoeist. Memorial services will be held at the Funeral Home in Crandon on the 2nd of January. More details on his memorial page at thomasarnott.com.
